For those who remember me - please email or ring me on 041 373 4845 - I would really like to hear from you and if possible catch up.
It is 13th January 2004 as I sit here about to tell "my story". Where to start is always the difficult bit.
I have a lot of fond memories and reading a lot of the other "stories" tells me I am not the only one. Most of my recollection is from my second vist as a teenager in 1976 through to 1978.
So many people, so many friends and so much to do - and most of us did it.
I remember becoming
addicted to sport;
* basketball (juniors & mens on a Friday night)
* soccer
* rugby
* softball
* tennis
* table tennis
Going to the pictures at the Hostie. Pretending I was all grown up cuddling with the girlfriend at the pictures and the school disco's and the parties where a large percentage of the school or at least your class seemed to be in attendance.
It was just so much fun I would go back and do it all over again if I could.
Anyway, end of dreaming. We got posted to Melbourne and I have lived there ever since. Western Suburbs - Laverton, Werribee, Hoppers Crossing - sounds boring doesn't it...2 marriages, 2nd one still in progress (10 years), 3 kids, 2 girls aged 14 & 12, 1 boy aged 9, 2 dogs and a bird.
Worked for Telecom for 14 years in Personnel. Completed MBA in 2001, specilaising in Human Resource Management. Currently working for Fawkner Cemetery in Melbournes Northern Suburbs (have for past 7 years) as their HR Manager - I look after the live ones - and I have probably heard every cemetery joke known to man/woman - should have written a book on it. Currently studying Psychology through Charkes Sturt University (via correspondence).
Two knee operations shortened my football career but I have continued with playing a variety of sports over the last 25 years - baseball, aussie rules, cricket, volleyball, basketball, soccer and golf. Golf is my primary sport these days.
I would really love to hear from the following people so if you have contact details I would appreciate any assistance.
Bruce Tinsley, Jane Shears, Tracey Newman, Steven Creese, Ian Paine, Daryl Mapleson, Steve Anderson (Marbles), Diane Franklin, Ken and Judith Patterson, Wayne Warnest, Tanya Loveday, Wayne Hangan, and Kevin Careless. I am sure I have missed others. I do have a range of contacts that Bobby Charlton was able to get for me which I can share if people are interested.
Stay well, stay happy and cherish the memories.
Love to you all.
