What a lot of great memories! I don't think any of my other school years had as much of an effect as those spent at RAAF School Penang!
Just reading through every one else's account of life in Malaysia - it confirms that we all really thought the same - amazing food experiences, the life style, craving any Australian connection, great mates, incredible memories!
I hear there is a reunion slated for 2005 in Penang - wouldn't that be great! I have heard positive feed back from the Melbourne reunion held in April this year. It is a pity that we are all so spread out across the Country - but I guess that was the very thing that made RAAF school so amazing! Wouldn't it be great if we could all go back to Penang in 2005?
I have lost touch with many of the people from way back then. Does anyone know where Christina Toomey is? What about some of the teachers from the late 70's early 80's?
Does anyone remember the Durian ice blocks from the ice cream man who stood outside the school gates every afternoon? (I think they sold for about 10 cents) Well, I found them in the shopping centre at Market City (Sydney) recently. As yet I have not dared to sample them! That is one memory I would prefer to leave in the freezer!
Looking
forward to more stories as word gets around about this great web site!
