Schneider
1958-1959
My name was Jacqueline Schneider. My father was posted to Malaya in 1958 from Singapore so I attended the Residency Road school in 58/59. My memories of the place was being picked up by a rickshaw every day and taken to school and then home. I had the same person for the duration of my time up there. The school itself to me as a mere child was a mansion which had large grounds and trees. I don't remember any of the teachers or pupils.
I went back to Malaysia with my own family in 1978 and we lived in Tan Sai Gin just outside the base. My two children Katrina and Michael attended the school in Penang in 1978 to 1980.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time up there but I do remember the smells of the food carts that came around to the house, and also the boatie at Butterworth. My husband Alan taught swimming down at the pool with Suzy Brown.
We are now out of the RAAF and have settled in a place called Two Rocks which is north of Perth.
